La musique de Notoy est une sculpture de sons concrets qui assemblés forment une electro à la physionomie variable, entre down-tempo, jungle et ambient. Fake Plastic, son premier album, façonne un paysage sonore tellurique et puissant, où le rythme tient le haut du pavé.

Concert immersif

En concert, le public est plongé dans un bain sonore large et enveloppant grâce à un dispositif spatialisé à 360° (un peu comme à la Géode).

Notoy est le projet solo de David Maillard, compositeur de bandes sons de spectacles. Le projet est soutenu par G2L Production.

«Le dispositif sonore d’un concert de Notoy est original : c'est un concert immersif à 360°.
Pour ça j’utilise 8 enceintes. Le public est au centre de 4 enceintes, cette quadriphonie crée l’image sonore principale, proche et enveloppant l’auditeur·rice. Les 4 autres enceintes servent à créer des effets de profondeur, de grands espaces.
Avec ce dispositif on peut complètement faire varier la perception de l’espace sonore d'un morceau à l’autre, être plongé dans une église, un canyon, une grotte...
Je suis régisseur son, je suis autonome sur le montage du concert. J'adapte la disposition des enceintes en fonction de chaque salle (en amont, sur plan). J'effectue les réglages (dispositif équivalent à une façade et 6 retours).»

An immersing concert

The audience is plunged into a vast and surrounding pool of ample sounds projected by a 360° spatialized sound system.

Notoy is the solo project of David Maillard who also composes soundtracks for various performing companies. The project is supported by G2L Production.

«The sound system of a concert by Notoy is quite original since the performance is spatialized.
To achieve this effect, I use 8 speakers. The audience sits in the middle of 4 speakers. This close quadriphonic sound that surrounds the listener, produces the main sound stage. The other 4 speakers are used to create a profound sense of depth, of wide open space.
This system makes it possible to make the sound spatial perception vary from one song to another as well as to immerse the audience into the emotional universe of a church, of a deep canyon or cave...
I am a sound engineer, I am quite autonomous in producing my concerts. I first study the room map to choose the positioning of the speakers (sound system equivalent to one PA and 6 monitors). And the D-day I do the sound checks.»
